DF Mandolin

This mandolin was developed from DF-style mandolin of luthier Federico Gabrielli, during the research project  Choice of wood in musical instruments: Italian Red Spruce and traditional mandolins, founded by World Wood Day Foundation in 2019.
Despite its classic look, this instrument was developed to obtain a high acoustic efficiency by scientifically choosing the soundboard and bracing pieces of wood according to their mechanical and acoustical properties and obtain a soundboard with a high mobility.

The mandolin features a semi-bowl back made of 11 rosewood ribs with maple purfilings, rosewood sides and ebony fretboard.

Soundboard and bracing are made of scientifically selected italian Val Di Fiemme red spruce.
